12-Year-Old Boy Killed In Nashville Theater District Shooting

NASHVILLE, TN – A 12-year-old boy lost his life Sunday night after a suspect opened fire during a large brawl in Nashville’s busy theater district.

Fatal Intersection Brawl

The shooting occurred at the intersection of Representative John Lewis Way and Deaderick Street, directly adjacent to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), a fight involving six to seven individuals broke out over a female. During the physical altercation, the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Devin Orr, allegedly reached into his waistband and pulled out a handgun.

As those involved in the fight began to scatter, shots were fired. Twelve-year-old Damarion Morehead was struck in the head. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Suspect Arrested and Weapon Recovered

Detectives reviewed surveillance video from the incident, which led to the arrest of Orr. During police questioning, Orr reportedly admitted to hiding a handgun inside a nearby sewer line. Investigators successfully recovered the weapon from the location.

Orr has been taken into custody and faces charges connected to the fatal shooting.

Court Proceedings

According to Davidson County court records, Orr is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Wednesday. As of Tuesday, an attorney representing the suspect had not yet been listed in public files.

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to interview witnesses who were present during the initial brawl.
