Los Angeles Offers $25K Reward Following Willowbrook Cold Case Murder

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA – The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects responsible for the 2020 murder of 20-year-old Edgar Vasquez.

The Fatal Shooting

The incident occurred just after 11:00 p.m. on July 6, 2020. Vasquez was driving near his home when an unknown suspect opened fire at the intersection of East 135th Street and Avalon Boulevard in the Willowbrook neighborhood.

Responding Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) deputies found Vasquez with critical injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he tragically passed away the following day.

Suspect Vehicles Identified

While suspect descriptions remain unavailable, homicide investigators have utilized nearby surveillance footage to identify two vehicles tied to the crime:

  • A dark-colored pickup truck
  • A white SUV

The suspects have managed to elude law enforcement and remain at large. Officials hope the substantial financial incentive will encourage anyone with lingering details to finally step forward.
