Woman Arrested After False Armed Robbery Report at Gallatin ATM, Police Say

Gallatin, TN — A reported armed robbery at a Gallatin ATM earlier this month led to an arrest after investigators determined the incident never occurred, according to the Gallatin Police Department.

Police said officers responded on Jan. 3, 2026, after a woman later identified as Marissa Hoesch called authorities claiming she had been robbed at gunpoint at an ATM location in Gallatin.

Due to the seriousness of the report, officers treated the call as an active and credible violent crime. Multiple resources were deployed in an effort to locate the alleged suspect, including K-9 units and aerial drone support, police said.

After conducting a thorough investigation, officers determined that no robbery had taken place and that the report was false. As a result, Hoesch was taken into custody and charged with filing a false police report.

“The Gallatin Police Department takes all calls for service seriously, particularly those involving violent crime,” officials said in a press statement. “False reports divert valuable resources away from real emergencies and place unnecessary strain on personnel and equipment.”

Police emphasized that while Gallatin remains a safe community, intentionally reporting false crimes will not be tolerated.

Anyone with information related to this incident or any other case is urged to contact the Gallatin Police Department at (615) 452-1313.
