Hebron, Kentucky – A father and son from Erlanger have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a northern Kentucky liquor store late Wednesday night. Authorities say the suspects were identified through an investigation supported by community tips and surveillance footage.

The robbery occurred around 9:56 p.m. at Good Spirits Wine and Tobacco on North Bend Road in Hebron. Boone County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene after receiving reports of two masked men entering the store and threatening an employee.

Incident Overview

According to officials, two men wearing masks entered the liquor store shortly before 10 p.m. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun and ordered the store employee to stand against a wall. While the armed suspect kept control of the situation, the second man moved behind the counter and took cash from the business.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported during the robbery. However, the presence of a firearm elevated the seriousness of the incident and prompted an immediate investigation.

Suspects Identified Through Investigation

Following the robbery, detectives began reviewing surveillance footage and gathering information from witnesses and members of the public. Tips played a key role in identifying the individuals involved.

Investigators identified William Joseph Abner Jr., 43, of Erlanger, as the armed suspect seen in the store during the robbery. The second suspect was identified as William Joseph Abner Sr., 64, also of Erlanger.

Police say surveillance video showed Abner Sr. kneeling behind the store’s counter and collecting money while the employee was held at gunpoint.

Arrest and Evidence Recovered

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Abner Jr. The United States Marshals Service assisted local authorities in locating and arresting him at his home in Erlanger.

Abner Sr. was also taken into custody at the same residence. During a search of the home, detectives recovered clothing believed to have been worn during the robbery, currency suspected to be connected to the theft, and a firearm.

Authorities have not disclosed the total amount of money taken from the store.

Charges and Bond Details

Both suspects have been charged with robbery. They are currently being held at the Boone County Jail on a $50,000 bond each.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to review evidence connected to the case.
