ROCKVILLE, MD — Authorities have released the identities of two young men who lost their lives in a devastating single-vehicle crash over the weekend in Rockville.
According to Montgomery County police, the victims have been identified as Abraham D. Huracaya Del Aguila, of Silver Spring, and Alexander J. Medrano Cangalaya, of Rockville. Both men were 24 years old and were passengers in a 2025 BMW M8 at the time of the collision.
The crash occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday near the intersection of Norbeck Road and East Gude Drive. Investigators say the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Norbeck Road when it suddenly left the roadway. The BMW crossed the median, struck a curb, collided with a pedestrian signal and multiple trees, and ultimately overturned into a trench located off the westbound lanes.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the two passengers dead. The driver, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not yet determined what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Officials are examining factors such as speed, road conditions, and any other potential contributing circumstances. No additional vehicles were reported to be involved in the crash.
The stretch of Norbeck Road where the incident occurred was temporarily closed as investigators documented the scene and cleared debris. The crash has prompted renewed conversations about roadway safety in the area, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours when traffic conditions and visibility can vary.
Authorities continue to urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has information that could assist in the investigation to come forward. The case remains active as investigators work to determine the sequence of events that led to the tragic outcome.
Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
