A 19-year-old Benton resident has been arrested after allegedly bringing a firearm onto the campus of Doyline High School in Webster Parish and pointing it at a student during a tense encounter earlier this month.
Authorities say the incident occurred on March 13, 2026, when Jayden A. Young reportedly drove onto school grounds while in possession of a handgun. According to investigators, Young exited his vehicle, displayed the weapon, and pointed it toward a student on campus. The student confronted him verbally, telling him not to aim the firearm in his direction, before walking away from the scene.
Officials confirmed that Young left the campus shortly after the confrontation. No physical injuries were reported, but law enforcement described the situation as serious due to the potential danger posed by the presence of a firearm on school property.
The Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office said they were notified of the alleged incident on March 16. Detectives immediately launched an investigation, gathering witness statements and reviewing security camera footage from the school. Authorities also examined photographs and text message exchanges that were reportedly connected to the case.
During questioning, investigators said Young admitted to bringing the gun onto school grounds. He was subsequently arrested and charged with carrying a firearm on school property and aggravated assault.
Young is currently being held at the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. His bond has been set at $50,000.
School officials have not reported any additional threats related to the incident. Law enforcement emphasized that strict policies are in place to protect students and staff and reiterated that weapons are prohibited on all school campuses. The investigation remains ongoing.
