A 32-year-old man was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning following a fight outside a business in Arlington, authorities said.
Officers with the Arlington Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of California Lane at approximately 4:29 a.m. Upon arrival, police located multiple shell casings scattered in front of the business, indicating that several shots had been fired.
According to investigators, witnesses at the scene reported that a physical altercation broke out among several individuals before at least one person pulled out a firearm and began shooting. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived.
Shortly afterward, emergency room staff at Medical City Arlington contacted police after a 32-year-old man arrived with at least one gunshot wound. Detectives later confirmed that the victim had been transported to the hospital by friends from the scene on California Lane. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence, review surveillance footage from nearby businesses, and interview witnesses in an effort to identify and locate the suspect. No arrests have been made as of Sunday, and police have not disclosed a possible motive.
Officials are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
