SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI — A 15-year-old boy’s life was cut short in what authorities describe as a calculated and deadly setup, leaving a community in shock and raising questions about youth violence.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Miles Young was shot and killed on March 12 after being lured into a situation he believed was a casual meeting with a girl.

A Setup Disguised as a Meetup

Investigators say a teenage girl, identified in court documents as a juvenile suspect, contacted Young and led him to believe they would meet for an intimate encounter.

Before picking him up, authorities allege she and others—including Yefry Archaga, 18, and Praize King, 18—discussed plans to “set him up.”

Despite warnings from friends who suspected something was wrong, Young agreed to go.

Warning Signs Ignored

According to witness statements, two of Young’s friends urged him not to go, telling him the situation felt like a setup.

They reportedly told him the girl had expressed dislike toward him in the past and even blamed him in connection with a prior incident.

Still, Young left with her that night.

Ambush on the Road

Authorities say the situation escalated quickly.

While Young was in the car with the girl, another vehicle allegedly blocked their path. At that point, he got out and attempted to run.

Prosecutors say he was then chased by suspects, one of whom was allegedly armed with a handgun and wearing a mask.

A witness reportedly heard someone yell, “Don’t run now!” as the teen tried to escape.

Final Moments Captured on Phone

In one of the most heartbreaking details of the case, a witness who was on the phone with Young during the incident reported hearing gunshots.

Moments later, they say they heard him fall and cry out, “I just don’t wanna die.”

Young was struck in the chest and later died at a hospital.

Arrests and Charges

Authorities arrested Praize King on March 18, followed by Yefry Archaga on March 31 after a search.

Both face:

  • First-degree murder charges
  • Armed criminal action charges

They are currently being held without bond as the case moves forward.

Community Mourns Young Life Lost

Family and friends have described Miles Young as someone with a kind heart and bright future.

A fundraiser created to support his family highlighted his caring nature and the deep loss felt by those who knew him.

Investigation Continues

Officials are continuing to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the case, including the involvement of additional individuals.

The case has sparked concern about online interactions, trust, and youth safety, especially when meetups are arranged under false pretenses.
