DeKalb County Shooting Spree Suspect Captured After Multiple Fatalities and Critical Injuries

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A wave of violence that gripped DeKalb County in the early morning hours has come to a dramatic conclusion. Authorities confirmed that a single suspect is responsible for a series of separate attacks that left two women dead and a man fighting for his life.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Olaolukitan Adon Abel, was apprehended following a high-stakes investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

A Timeline of Terror

The spree began in the dark hours of the early morning, spanning three distinct locations across the county. Police say the random and brutal nature of the attacks sent shockwaves through the community.

  • 12:50 AM — Wesley Chapel Road: The violence started near a Checkers fast-food restaurant. Officers discovered a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
  • 2:50 AM — Cherokee Plaza: Two hours later, gunfire erupted outside a Kroger. A 49-year-old homeless man, who was sleeping outside the store, was shot multiple times. A store employee reported hearing the shots while heading for a break. The victim remains in critical condition, though investigators are hopeful for his recovery.
  • 6:50 AM — Battle Forrest Drive: The final reported attack occurred at the intersection of Battle Forrest Drive and Manassas Lane. Police found 40-year-old Lauren Bullis dead at the scene. In a particularly gruesome detail, authorities noted she suffered from both gunshot and stab wounds.

Victim Lauren Bullis: A “Sweet” Neighbor Remembered

The death of Lauren Bullis has hit the local community especially hard. Neighbors described her as a fixture of the neighborhood, known for her daily walks with her dog.

“She was sweet and kind to everyone,” one neighbor told local reporters. The senselessness of her death—occurring during her morning routine—has left the street in mourning and residents questioning their safety.

The Manhunt and Capture

The breakthrough in the case came when Brookhaven and DeKalb County police linked the ballistics and vehicle descriptions from the three scenes. A “Be On The Look Out” (BOLO) alert was issued across the state.

Abel was eventually spotted and captured during a traffic stop in Troup County. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Charges and Ongoing Investigation

At a joint news conference, DeKalb County Police Chief Greg Padrick expressed the gravity of the day’s events. “This has been a very tragic day for DeKalb County as a whole,” Padrick stated.

Currently, Abel faces the following charges in relation to the Kroger shooting:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

While these are the initial charges, authorities have indicated that additional murder charges for the deaths of the two women are imminent as the investigation continues. Detectives are still working to determine a motive, as there appears to be no prior connection between Abel and his victims.
