Fort Bend County, Texas — A Texas woman is facing child endangerment charges after authorities say her daughter, who reportedly has a disability, was left home alone for days and survived on birthday cake before contacting police to ask for food.
The allegations surfaced following an investigation by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, which was launched after the child reached out to law enforcement seeking help.
Child’s Call for Food Raises Alarm
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Fort Bend County, the young girl, identified only by the initials “HH,” contacted authorities in November 2025 asking for food.
Investigators said the child had allegedly been left alone for approximately two days while her mother, Philippi Angela Walker, was reportedly out of the country.
Authorities noted that HH reportedly has a “mental deficiency,” making the situation especially concerning.
Detectives told local media that the girl survived during that period by eating birthday cake that was available inside the residence.
The case may never have come to light had the child not contacted law enforcement herself.
Deputies Say Child Might Not Have Been Found for Days
Investigators stated that HH was using a communication device with limited connectivity when she contacted authorities, making it difficult for deputies to determine her location.
According to detectives, the situation could have become even more serious.
Authorities reportedly said that if HH had not called for help, she might have remained undiscovered for several additional days.
The welfare check ultimately led investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding the child’s living conditions and supervision.
Child Allegedly Left Alone Again
The investigation took another turn when detectives later attempted to serve an arrest warrant related to the case.
According to authorities, officers discovered HH had allegedly been left home alone a second time.
Investigators said they stopped Walker after she left her residence to travel to work at the Houston Veterans Affairs Hospital.
During that encounter, detectives reportedly determined the child was once again by herself at home.
Authorities allege Walker attempted to contact her grandfather and ask him to check on HH after being stopped by police.
When investigators asked whether her daughter was home alone, Walker allegedly declined to answer the question.
Attorney Disputes Key Details
Following publication of reports about the case, Walker’s attorney, Zachary Maloney, disputed aspects of the allegations.

According to Maloney, a babysitter had been assigned to care for the child during the first incident while Walker was traveling outside the United States.
“A critical fact known to the detectives is that, in the initial case, Ms. Walker’s babysitter abandoned the child while Ms. Walker was out of the country. Why has he not been charged?” Maloney said.
Authorities have not publicly commented on the attorney’s claims regarding the babysitter.
It also remains unclear whether other adults had been assigned responsibility for checking on the child during the period in question.
Charges Filed as Case Moves Forward
Walker was ultimately charged with abandoning or endangering a child.
Following her arrest, she posted a bond of approximately $10,000 and was released from custody. Court records indicate her next scheduled court appearance is June 29.
The case remains ongoing, and investigators have not released additional details about the child’s current condition or living arrangements.
