TOLEDO, OH – Arrest warrants have been issued for a 20-year-old man, and police are actively searching for a second shooter following a weekend mass shooting that left 12 people injured near a popular neighborhood festival.
Suspect Identified in Festival Shooting
The Toledo Police Department announced that warrants have been issued for Ka Nye Taylor, 20, on 11 counts of felonious assault. The shooting took place near the Old West End Festival, an annual street event that draws thousands of visitors.
Authorities describe Taylor as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Innocent Bystanders Caught in Crossfire
According to Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle, the gunfire erupted after a dispute between two rival groups escalated into a foot chase and physical fight. Investigators determined that one individual opened fire, prompting a member of the opposing group to shoot back.
Out of the 12 people struck by gunfire, authorities believe nine were innocent bystanders. The victims range in age from 14 to 61, with the majority in their early 20s. Fortunately, Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz confirmed that all victims are expected to survive, and nine have already been released from the hospital.
Search for Second Shooter and Rewards Offered
Detectives have obtained photographs of a second male suspect who was wearing all black at the festival. Police have released his photo to the public to aid in identification.
Substantial financial rewards are being offered for information leading to arrests in this case:
- Crime Stoppers: Up to $10,000 reward.
- U.S. Marshals Service: An additional reward of up to $5,000.
