LIVONIA, MI – A tragic suburban Detroit shooting has left four people dead, including the suspect’s parents and brother, after a domestic dispute escalated on Tuesday evening.
The Incident and Surrender
Livonia Police officers responded to a residence approximately 20 miles west of Detroit around 5:35 p.m. on June 9 following multiple reports of gunshots.
Upon arrival, officers were met by a 25-year-old male suspect who exited the home with his hands raised. According to Livonia Police Chief Tom Goralski, the suspect immediately confessed to officers that he had shot his family inside the residence. He was taken into custody without incident.
Victims Identified
Inside the home, officers discovered the bodies of four victims, all having suffered fatal gunshot wounds:
- Tanner Ray Pierce (22) – The suspect’s brother, found in a bedroom.
- Nevaeh May Jaslynn Finch (21) – Tanner’s girlfriend, also located in the bedroom.
- Sterling Ray Pierce (58) – The suspect’s father, found in the backyard.
- Holly Marie Kimball (53) – The suspect’s mother, also located in the backyard.
Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, but all four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
A “Contentious Relationship”
Chief Goralski stated that while police had no record of prior disturbances at the home, investigators uncovered a history of a “contentious relationship” between the suspect and his parents. Authorities noted the suspect has no documented history of criminal activity or mental health concerns.
A semi-automatic rifle, believed to be the primary weapon used in the killings, was recovered at the scene along with several other firearms.
Public Safety and Next Steps
The Livonia Police Department issued a statement reassuring the community that the incident was entirely contained within the residence, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains active, and detectives are preparing to forward their findings to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office to determine formal charges.
