Pasadena Police Officer Shot By Colleague During Garage Horseplay

PASADENA, TX – Newly released dashcam footage from inside a Pasadena police parking garage captures the moment an officer was accidentally shot by a colleague in what officials are calling an act of “horseplay.”

The Incident Inside the Garage

The video, captured by a patrol car’s dashcam, shows a vehicle pulling up behind two officers standing near another car. One of the officers standing outside is seen quickly drawing his service weapon and pointing it directly at the officer inside the patrol car before re-holstering it.

While the video does not capture the final moments, Pasadena Police Department officials confirmed that the officer seated inside the patrol car also drew his weapon.

Accidental Discharge and Injury

The seated officer’s gun discharged, sending a bullet straight through the patrol car’s windshield. The round struck the standing officer directly in the shoulder.

The shooting occurred last September, but the department officially released the footage to the public on Wednesday following internal investigations.

Disciplinary Action and Recovery

According to the police chief, the officer who sustained the shoulder wound has since fully recovered and returned to duty.

The department has taken official disciplinary action against the involved personnel, though specific details regarding suspensions or terminations have not been publicly disclosed. The chief emphasized that this type of reckless behavior violates strict department safety protocols.
