Bicyclist Fatally Shot On Sidewalk In Grant Park

CHICAGO, IL – A 27-year-old man was killed early Tuesday morning after being shot while riding his bicycle through Chicago’s Grant Park.

Midnight Shooting Near Jackson Drive

According to the Chicago Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m. in the 300-block of East Jackson Drive.

The victim was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk when shots rang out. Investigators state the man heard the gunfire and immediately felt pain, realizing he had been struck.

Emergency Response and Investigation

The victim sustained a severe gunshot wound to his upper leg. Emergency responders rushed him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The identity of the 27-year-old man has not yet been released pending family notification.

No Suspects In Custody

As of Tuesday morning, police have not reported any arrests or released descriptions of potential suspects. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

Area Three detectives have taken over the ongoing homicide investigation and are asking anyone who may have been near Grant Park at the time of the shooting to come forward with information.
