LODI, NJ – A quiet Lodi neighborhood is demanding answers after a violent dog attack left a resident concussed, a family pet injured, and brought an ongoing feud over backyard drone surveillance to the attention of federal authorities.
The James Street Attack
The escalating tension hit a boiling point last week on James Street. A resident walking Roscoe, a 5-year-old dog, was suddenly blindsided and knocked to the ground by two large dogs belonging to a neighbor.
The attack, which was captured on a nearby Ring security camera, left the owner with a concussion and Roscoe with multiple deep puncture wounds to his back. While Roscoe is currently on the mend, local families say the incident is part of a much larger pattern of reckless behavior.
Backyard Drone Surveillance Sparking Outrage
Lodi resident Tom Biegel told reporters that the dog attack is just the latest disruption. According to Biegel, the same neighbor frequently flies massive commercial-grade drones directly over surrounding backyards, destroying any sense of local privacy.
The disruption has become so severe that some neighbors have openly debated installing overhead nets or high-powered spotlights to block the aircraft. Biegel has spent the last two years documenting the flights and has formally contacted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Police And FAA Launch Investigations
The Lodi Police Department confirmed that the neighbor holds a commercial drone pilot license. Local authorities are now actively reviewing the license status and have filed official complaints against the homeowner.
In a public statement, the Lodi Police Department emphasized that community safety remains their highest priority:
“Our officers handle each and every call for service according to the laws governed within the State of New Jersey and ensure the rights of all parties involved are protected.”
