Amazon Driver Hit by Car During Delivery in West Miami-Dade, Police Search for Hit-and-Run Driver

Miami-Dade County, Florida — An Amazon delivery driver was struck by a vehicle while delivering packages in west Miami-Dade, with surveillance video capturing the frightening moment the crash occurred.

Authorities say the driver was hit by a car that did not stop after the collision, leaving the injured worker on the roadway as packages scattered across the street.

The hit-and-run happened Wednesday near Southwest 20th Street and 140th Place, an area residents say has ongoing issues with speeding vehicles.

Surveillance video shows sudden impact

Security camera footage shows the driver stepping out of her delivery truck and beginning to handle packages.

Seconds later, a car passes through the area and strikes the driver as she stands near the roadway.

Witnesses say packages were thrown into the air as the impact knocked the driver to the ground.

The driver remained lying in the street immediately after the crash while the vehicle continued driving away from the scene.

Witness describes chaotic aftermath

A nearby resident, Stephanie Garcia, said she came across the scene shortly after the incident while driving home from work.

Garcia described seeing scattered packages and personal items from the delivery driver lying across the roadway.

“I see the package in the middle of the street broken, her hat on the other side, and her laying on the ground not able to move,” Garcia said.

She added that the injured driver appeared to still be conscious and moving her hands.

Garcia said the driver may have been trying to contact her employer or family while waiting for help to arrive.

Residents say speeding is a common problem

People who live in the area say traffic safety has been a long-standing concern along that stretch of road.

Residents claim vehicles often travel through the neighborhood at high speeds.

Some neighbors say they have previously requested speed bumps or other traffic calming measures, but those requests have not yet resulted in changes.

Local residents believe additional safety measures could help prevent future accidents.

Authorities are actively investigating the incident and working to identify the driver who fled the scene.

“We’re relieved the driver is okay and recovering at home while receiving care,” the company said.

Amazon also confirmed it is cooperating with local police as they investigate the hit-and-run.

The delivery service partner that employs the driver is reportedly staying in contact with the injured worker and providing support during her recovery.
