JURUPA VALLEY, CA – Four people have been injured and dozens of homes are under mandatory evacuation orders as two separate, wind-driven brush fires burn through Riverside County.

The Bain Fire: 1,375 Acres Burned

The larger of the two blazes, dubbed the Bain Fire, erupted around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on the north side of the dry Santa Ana River bottom, near Bain Street and Limonite Avenue. Fueled by thick brush, the fire quickly consumed roughly 1,375 acres.

Four individuals sustained injuries during the blaze, though authorities have not yet released details regarding their medical conditions.

Mandatory Evacuations Enforced

Flames rapidly spread toward residential neighborhoods near Arlington and Western avenues, prompting immediate evacuation orders for dozens of homes. Cal Fire air tankers and water-dropping helicopters were deployed to assist ground crews.

The specific mandatory evacuation zones include:

  • Zone JUR-0180 and Zone RIV-0307
  • Areas north of Arlington Avenue and south of Garret Lane
  • Areas east of Arlington Avenue and west of Mitchell Avenue

Officials noted that the river bottom where the fire originated contains several active homeless encampments, though the exact cause remains under investigation.

Juniper Fire Threatens Homeland Mobile Home Park

Further north, a second wind-driven blaze named the Juniper Fire broke out at 12:20 p.m. near Juniper Springs and Juniper Flats roads. The fast-moving fire has burned approximately 439 acres of medium vegetation.

The Juniper Fire has already destroyed several outbuildings and directly threatens multiple homes. An emergency evacuation warning has been issued for the Panorama Cove Mobile Home Park at 32600 Highway 74. Sheriff’s deputies have closed a segment of Juniper Flats Road for public safety.
