Baltimore Man Charged After Allegedly Stealing and Selling Seven Puppies Outside Maryland Mall

A Baltimore man is facing multiple charges after police say he stole seven puppies from a Maryland home and later sold them outside a busy shopping mall. Investigators are now asking for the public’s help to locate the puppies and confirm where they were sold.

Puppies Reported Stolen During November Burglary

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, the incident began on Nov. 15, 2025, when a burglary was reported in the 100 block of North Post Road. The homeowner told officers that seven Shih Tzu and Yorkshire Terrier mix puppies were taken from the residence.

Police said the theft was discovered shortly after it occurred, and an investigation was launched to identify the suspect and recover the animals.

Suspect Identified and Arrested Weeks Later

On Dec. 16, 2025, detectives identified and arrested 28-year-old Kahili Hines in connection with the burglary. During questioning, Hines allegedly told police that he sold the puppies at Arundel Mills Mall.

According to investigators, Hines claimed he walked around the mall area with the puppies in a wagon while offering them for sale. Police noted that this claim has not yet been independently verified.

Authorities believe the puppies were sold sometime in November or December, but their current locations remain unknown.

Police Seek Information, Not Removal of Puppies

Aberdeen Police emphasized that they are not seeking to remove the puppies from their current homes. Instead, detectives say they are trying to confirm the animals’ whereabouts and ensure they are safe.

Anyone who may have purchased one of the puppies, witnessed sales outside Arundel Mills Mall, or has information related to the case is encouraged to come forward.

Stolen Dog Investigations in Maryland

Police say this case is part of a broader pattern of pet thefts reported across Maryland in recent years.

In September 2025, a Baltimore woman was reunited with her 15-year-old Yorkshire Terrier after her car was stolen from the Columbia Crossing Plaza parking lot. Howard County police later recovered both the vehicle and the dog.

In another case from October 2022, three dogs were stolen at gunpoint in Laurel after their owners attempted to sell them in a parking lot. That incident raised concerns among law enforcement about the risks associated with informal pet sales.

Investigation Ongoing

Aberdeen Police say the investigation into the stolen puppies remains active, and additional charges could be filed depending on what detectives uncover. Officials are urging anyone with relevant information to contact police, stressing that community cooperation is critical to resolving cases involving stolen animals.
