According to prosecutors, text messages recovered during the investigation indicated the two men were involved in an intimate relationship.

An autopsy revealed that Dr. Hoover was shot twice in the back of the head, confirming the killing was deliberate. Investigators say his body was wrapped in a blanket before being concealed in the attic, suggesting efforts were made to delay discovery.
