Edmond Lake Party Turns Deadly as Mass Shooting Leaves Teen Dead and 22 Injured

EDMOND, OK – Authorities have confirmed that an 18-year-old woman has died following a chaotic mass shooting at an unsanctioned lake party on Sunday night. The gunfire left at least 22 others injured, with several victims still in critical condition.

Violence Errupts At “Sunday Funday” Gathering

The incident unfolded around 9:00 p.m. Sunday at a campground near Arcadia Lake, located about 13 miles north of Oklahoma City. According to Edmond Police spokesperson Emily Ward, the party was promoted heavily on social media, drawing a crowd of approximately 250 young adults from across the metro area.

Witnesses reported that the chaos began following an argument between a group of attendees. Shortly after, gunfire broke out from multiple directions, sending the large crowd into a panic.

Casualties and Hospitalizations

On Tuesday, police announced that an 18-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries. Of the 22 others injured:

  • 13 people were hospitalized immediately following the shooting.
  • Victims range in age from 16 to 30 years old.
  • As of Monday, three victims remain in critical condition, while four others are in serious condition.

Suspects At Large

Investigators believe the attackers were two men wearing ski masks. While no suspects are currently in custody, Edmond Police stated they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the general public.

Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and victims across the Oklahoma City metro area to identify those responsible. The event was reportedly not a permitted or reserved gathering.
