Pinson, Alabama — A devastating tragedy unfolded at an Alabama nature preserve over the weekend after two young siblings drowned when they were swept away by creek waters while spending time with their mother.
The heartbreaking incident occurred Saturday afternoon at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve in Pinson, leaving a family and community mourning the loss of two children.
Children Swept Away by Creek Current
According to reports, the victims were a brother and sister believed to be between 7 and 11 years old.
Authorities said the children were with their mother near the creek when they were suddenly swept away by the water and pulled beneath the surface.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, but officials say the children became separated from their mother before disappearing underwater.
Witnesses nearby quickly realized an emergency was unfolding and rushed to help.
Rescue Efforts Launched Immediately
Two bystanders, along with a deputy from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, entered the rescue effort and managed to pull both children from the water.

Emergency medical crews then transported both children to a local hospital for further treatment. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, the children later died from their injuries.
