FORT WORTH, TX – One person is dead and another remains hospitalized following a violent wrong-way collision early Saturday morning on Highway 121.
The Collision
Fort Worth police officers responded to the emergency call on Highway 121 near Sylvania Avenue. Upon arrival, first responders located two heavily damaged vehicles involved in the wreck.
Authorities confirmed that one of the drivers suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Hospitalization and Traffic Impact
The driver of the second vehicle survived the initial impact and was emergency transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The current condition of that driver has not been released by medical staff.
The severe crash forced traffic diversions on Highway 121 for several hours while emergency crews cleared the debris and mapped the scene.
Investigation Details
Traffic investigators are working to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash. As of Sunday, police have not clarified which of the two vehicles was traveling the wrong way against traffic at the time of the impact.
The identity of the deceased driver is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
