MIAMI, FL – A social media invitation for drinks turned into a violent confrontation and robbery at a luxury Biscayne Bay apartment, leading to the arrest of a 30-year-old Florida woman.
The Instagram Invitation
The incident began on the evening of April 11, when the victim received an Instagram message from Nicole Cano. According to police records, Cano invited the man to her apartment to “have drinks.”
The victim arrived at the luxury condo around 8:00 p.m., but the casual meet-up quickly escalated into a dangerous situation.
Ambushed On The Balcony
While the victim was on the apartment’s balcony, the situation turned hostile. Two other women emerged from a bedroom to join Cano in confronting the man. The group reportedly demanded money, but the victim informed them he was not carrying any cash.
According to the arrest affidavit, when the man attempted to leave, the women blocked his path and told him he was “going to pay.”
Violent Struggle And Robbery
A physical struggle broke out as the victim tried to escape. During the scuffle, his gold chain was ripped from his neck. While he managed to keep the chain, a $300 gold cross pendant was stolen.
The victim eventually broke free, fled the apartment, and screamed for help before contacting the authorities.
Identification And Arrest
Following an investigation, the victim identified Cano in a six-photo lineup on May 1. Nicole Cano, 30, has been charged with:
- False Imprisonment
- Strong-Arm Robbery
She was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Police have not yet released details regarding the other two women involved in the incident.
