Oklahoma City Man Arrested In Deadly Arcadia Lake Shooting

EDMOND, OK – Authorities have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a violent shooting at Arcadia Lake that left one woman dead and 22 others injured during a large weekend gathering.

Arrest and Upgraded Charges

Jaylan A. Davis, of Oklahoma City, turned himself in Wednesday morning. While initially booked on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, Edmond Police Chief J.D. Younger announced that the charge is being upgraded to felony murder.

Davis is currently being held in the Edmond jail on a $1 million bond.

The Incident at Arcadia Lake

The shooting broke out late Sunday night during a party at a picnic pavilion beside the lake. Investigators believe the violence escalated from an argument between two women into a confrontation between rival gang members.

Police report that multiple individuals opened fire, with more than 80 rounds discharged into the crowd. Officers were already en route to the scene for a noise complaint when the gunfire erupted.

Victims Identified

The tragedy claimed the life of 18-year-old Avianna Smith-Gray, a high school senior who was weeks away from graduation. Her family describes her as a “loving and smart” person who was full of life.

Of the 22 other victims who suffered gunshot and shrapnel wounds, six are juveniles, with some as young as 15 years old.

Ongoing Investigation

Edmond Police are still searching for at least one more suspect. Officials noted that the party had been promoted on social media and drew a massive crowd, though organizers had not secured the necessary permits for the event.

Detectives are continuing to process evidence to bring justice to the 23 people struck by gunfire.
