Bay County, Florida — A former reality television personality known for appearing on TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” is facing serious criminal charges in Florida after allegations surfaced involving a minor during a past family trip.
Joseph Garrett Duggar, 31, has been charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12 and lewd conduct by an adult, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities emphasize that the charges are allegations, and the case will be decided in court.
“The charges stem from alleged incidents reported to have occurred during a 2020 vacation in Florida.”
Allegations reported years after incident
Investigators say the case came to light after the alleged victim, now 14 years old, participated in a forensic interview and disclosed details about incidents that allegedly occurred when she was 9 years old.
According to authorities, the incidents were said to have taken place during a family vacation in Panama City Beach.
“Officials say the report was made years later during a formal forensic review.”
Details outlined by investigators
Law enforcement officials say the alleged victim reported multiple instances of inappropriate conduct during the trip.
According to the investigation, the suspect allegedly:
- Asked the child to sit on his lap on multiple occasions
- Invited her to sit next to him on a couch
- Used a blanket while sitting together, after which inappropriate contact was alleged
Authorities state that the alleged behavior was reported to have occurred more than once during the trip.
Alleged admission under investigation
According to officials, the alleged victim’s father confronted Duggar about the claims prior to his arrest.
Investigators say Duggar allegedly made statements acknowledging the allegations during that interaction and in discussions with law enforcement.
“Authorities say statements made during questioning are part of the ongoing investigation.”

Key details still unclear
Authorities say several aspects of the case are still under review, including:
- The exact relationship between the accused and the alleged victim
- Whether there may be additional victims or incidents
“Investigators say the case remains active as they continue to gather evidence.”
Background draws renewed attention
The case has drawn attention due to Duggar’s past appearance on a widely known reality television show featuring a large family.
The show was previously canceled following unrelated controversies involving another family member.
Case to be decided in court
Duggar has not been convicted, and all charges remain allegations at this stage. The outcome will be determined through the legal process.
“Authorities stress that the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.”
As the case moves forward, more information may emerge through court proceedings and official updates.
