HOUSTON, TX – A quiet River Oaks neighborhood was shaken Monday evening after Houston Police discovered the bodies of two adults and two children inside a home on Kingston Street.
Discovery at the Scene
Officers arrived at the 2100-block of Kingston Street around 5:26 p.m. to conduct a welfare check. According to the Houston Police Department (HPD), the family’s babysitter alerted authorities after she was unable to reach them and became concerned for their safety.
Upon entering the residence, HPD officers found all four family members deceased.
Investigation Details
Preliminary findings by HPD detectives suggest the incident was a murder-suicide. While the identities of the deceased have not been officially released pending notification of next of kin, police confirmed that all four individuals were members of the same family.
“This is a heartbreaking scene for the community,” HPD officials stated during a brief press conference.
Motive Remains Unclear
As of Tuesday morning, investigators are still working to determine a motive behind the shooting. Forensic teams remained at the River Oaks property late into the night gathering evidence.
HPD has not yet confirmed who the primary shooter was or the ages of the two children involved.
