Hialeah Man Arrested For Random Kitchen Knife Stabbing

HIALEAH, FL – A 46-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly carrying out a random and life-threatening stabbing in Hialeah on Sunday.

The Incident

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing at 767 West 2nd Avenue, where they found a victim with severe wounds to his head and body. Family members were reportedly applying pressure to the injuries when authorities arrived.

The victim told police he did not know his attacker and described the encounter as a completely random act of violence.

The Investigation

A trail of blood from the scene led investigators to an apartment at 128 W. 7th Street. When officers knocked, the suspect, identified as Karel Diaz Gonzalez, answered with blood on his ear and claimed he had been attacked first.

However, surveillance footage told a different story. The video allegedly shows Diaz Gonzalez speaking with the victim before retreating to his apartment. He then emerged holding a large kitchen knife in a “ready position” and chased the fleeing victim.

Medical Condition and Charges

The victim was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries and required surgery for a stab wound at the base of his head.

A kitchen knife was later recovered from under a nearby parked vehicle. Diaz Gonzalez has been charged with second-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon.

Current Status

A judge has ordered Diaz Gonzalez to be held without bond. The investigation remains active as authorities finalize the details of the case.
