Hurst, Texas — A disturbing discovery inside a mall dressing room has led to the arrest of a 23-year-old Aeropostale employee in Hurst, Texas, after police say he allegedly placed a hidden camera inside the store’s changing area.
The case has sparked concern among shoppers and prompted authorities to ask possible victims to come forward.
Hidden Camera Discovered in Dressing Room
According to the Hurst Police Department, officers were first alerted to the situation on April 24 after a hidden recording device was reportedly discovered inside a dressing room at North East Mall.
Police said two young women found the camera partially concealed while using a dressing room inside the mall’s Aeropostale outlet.
The shocking discovery immediately triggered an investigation into how long the device may have been there and whether customers had been secretly recorded.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed how many people may have been affected.
Employee Arrested Following Investigation
After investigating the incident, police identified 23-year-old Caleb Leonard as a suspect in the case.
Leonard was arrested on May 14 and now faces charges including:
- Invasive visual recording
- Tampering with physical evidence
Investigators say Leonard had been working at the Aeropostale store at the time the hidden camera was discovered.
Police have not yet released additional details regarding the alleged recordings or whether any footage was recovered during the investigation.
Company Responds to Allegations
Following the arrest, Catalyst Brands, the parent company of Aeropostale, released a statement addressing the incident.
“We are aware of the arrest of a former associate. Upon learning of the allegations, we immediately suspended the associate and began working with the Hurst Police Department to support their investigation.”
The company also confirmed that Leonard is no longer employed by the retailer.
“We have since terminated the associate. The safety and security of our customers is always of utmost concern, and we have zero tolerance for behavior that puts anyone visiting our stores at risk. We are grateful to the Hurst Police Department for their professionalism related to this matter.”
Police Ask Potential Victims to Contact Them
As the investigation continues, authorities are encouraging anyone who believes they may have been improperly recorded in the same dressing room to come forward.
The Hurst Police Department says additional witnesses or victims could help investigators determine the full extent of the alleged misconduct.
Officials provided a direct number for anyone with information related to the case or concerns about possible recordings.
Concerns Grow Over Privacy and Safety
The incident has raised serious concerns about privacy and customer safety inside retail dressing rooms, where shoppers expect complete security and confidentiality.
Cases involving hidden cameras in public changing areas often trigger widespread fear because victims may never realize they were recorded.
Police continue investigating the situation, and additional details could emerge as authorities examine evidence connected to the case.
