Level 3 Severe Weather Alert Tornadoes And Large Hail Threaten The South

DALLAS, TX – Millions across the South are under a heightened Level 3 out of 5 severe weather threat through Wednesday, as a powerful storm system brings the risk of EF2+ tornadoes, damaging winds, and golf-ball-sized hail.

  • Primary Targets: Northeast Texas (Dallas), Southeast Oklahoma, Arkansas (Little Rock), and Western Tennessee (Memphis).

Wednesday Forecast: Danger Intensifies

The threat level has been upgraded for Wednesday as the system moves into the Deep South. Meteorologists expect discrete supercell thunderstorms to form by the afternoon.

  • Tornado Risk: Conditions are favorable for EF2 or greater tornadoes, especially in the lower Mississippi Valley.
  • Timing: Severe activity is expected to persist well into Wednesday evening.

Heavy Rain & Flash Flooding

While the South has been battling a longstanding drought, the intensity of these storms may bring too much rain too quickly.

  • Rainfall Totals: Widespread 1–3 inches are expected.
  • Flash Flood Warning: Flood watches are already in effect for Northern Georgia and are expected to expand. Residents in low-lying areas should prepare for sudden rising waters.
