Kennesaw, Georgia — A Georgia man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he disguised himself as a delivery driver and carried out a shocking doorstep shooting targeting his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.
Authorities in Kennesaw allege that Jacob Forrest Kevinsson, 33, used a cardboard box to conceal his identity before opening fire on the victim outside a residence, leaving the man seriously injured.
According to investigators, the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on May 6 at a home on Smith Street in Kennesaw, located roughly 25 miles northwest of Atlanta.
Police Say Suspect Used Delivery Driver Ruse
Court documents indicate that Kevinsson allegedly approached the victim’s home carrying a cardboard box, creating the appearance that he was making a delivery.
When the victim answered the door, investigators say Kevinsson asked him to confirm his identity. After the victim identified himself, the situation quickly turned violent.
Police allege that Kevinsson immediately fired several shots through the cardboard box he was holding, striking the victim multiple times.
Authorities said the victim suffered two gunshot wounds to the left side of his chest and two more to his right forearm.
The unusual method of attack has drawn attention from investigators, who described the case as unlike most shootings they encounter.
Victim Managed to Escape and Get Help
Despite being wounded, the victim was able to leave the scene and seek assistance.
According to Kennesaw Police Officer David Buchanan, the injured man walked to a nearby neighbor’s home, where help was requested and emergency responders were contacted.
Investigators believe the suspect fled the area immediately after the shooting.
Police said Kevinsson allegedly left the scene in a Toyota Corolla before authorities arrived.
The victim survived the attack, though officials have not released additional details about his medical condition.
Investigation Quickly Focused on Former Relationship
As detectives worked to identify a suspect, evidence allegedly pointed toward Kevinsson, who police say previously dated the victim’s current girlfriend.
Investigators eventually identified him as the alleged shooter and arrested him last week.
Officer Buchanan suggested that personal relationship issues may have played a significant role in the incident.
“This is a very unique case, and it’s one of those things where relationships cause people to be emotional and that’s most likely what occurred here,” Buchanan said.

Authorities have not released information indicating whether there were previous confrontations between the suspect and the victim before the shooting.
Charges and Court Status
Kevinsson has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
Following his arrest, he was booked into the Cobb County Jail, where he remains held without bond.
Court records show that a future hearing date has not yet been publicly listed.
The investigation remains ongoing, and prosecutors are expected to continue reviewing evidence related to the case.
If convicted on the charges, Kevinsson could face significant prison time under Georgia law.
