Mija Barbecue To Close For Good Due To Rising Food Costs

CEDAR HILL, TX – A beloved, family-owned staple of the Cedar Hill community is shutting its doors for good later this month, marking the end of a seven-year culinary run.

The Decision to Close

Ryan Siegler, co-owner of Mija Barbecue, confirmed the difficult decision to close down permanently. Like many restaurant owners across the country, the team at Mija Barbecue has been hit hard by the nationwide surge in food costs. Specifically, skyrocketing beef prices made continuing the business unsustainable.

“We love the connections we made,” Siegler stated. “We hate to walk away, but right now, unfortunately, that’s just where things are.”

A Cedar Hill Mainstay

For nearly seven years, Mija Barbecue built a loyal local following by serving up scratch-made comfort food. Except for the bread, every single item—including the custom seasonings and house sauces—was crafted from scratch daily.

Some of the restaurant’s most popular, crowd-pleasing menu staples included:

  • Traditional smoked brisket
  • Brisket grilled cheese sandwich
  • Pork belly burnt ends

Final Days of Service

The restaurant will remain operational through the end of the month, giving local residents and long-time regulars a final chance to visit, say goodbye, and grab their favorite menu items one last time.
