Missouri Mom’s Clever Babysitter “Side Cash” Note Goes Viral

Missouri Mom’s Clever Babysitter Side Cash Note Goes Viral

A Missouri mother has sparked a massive online debate after sharing a creative way to maximize her date nights. By leaving an optional chore checklist for her babysitter, she managed to return home to a spotless house while giving her sitter a chance to earn extra cash.

The Chore Checklist Concept

Katrina Ivan, a local science teacher, posted a video of the note on TikTok, which quickly amassed over 1.5 million views.

“You are more than welcome to hang out and watch TV all night, but if you want to make some extra $, these jobs are up for grabs,” the note read. The babysitter, a high school senior who has worked with the family for four years, eagerly accepted the challenge.

According to Ivan, she watched her Ring camera feed and saw the teenager cleaning the windows just 10 minutes after she and her husband left. To make the process easier, Ivan left all necessary cleaning supplies out in the open.

Earnings Breakdown

By the end of the night, the babysitter had completed several tasks around the home, including:

  • Cleaning mirrors and windows
  • Organizing toys
  • Vacuuming the living room couch
  • Scrubbing and organizing the silverware drawer

The extra tasks pushed the babysitter’s total earnings to $28.75 an hour, tax-free for the night. This was on top of the base pay of $75 she received just to watch Ivan’s 3-year-old son, who slept through most of the date night.

The Internet Reacts

While the vast majority of commenters praised the idea as a win-win situation, a few critics felt the individual task prices were too low. One user commented that $10 was not enough for some of the deeper cleaning jobs.

In a follow-up video, Ivan addressed the feedback and interviewed the babysitter directly, who confirmed she loved the opportunity to make quick money. However, Ivan agreed that she would likely restructure and increase the prices for future date nights to keep things completely fair.
