Yaphank, New York — A heartbreaking tragedy has shaken a New York community after a 30-year-old mother of three was found critically injured inside her car at a gas station, leading to the arrest of her boyfriend on murder charges.
Authorities say the disturbing case unfolded early Saturday morning and has since left family members grieving the sudden loss of a young mother remembered for her love and devotion to her children.
Woman Found Unresponsive Inside Vehicle
According to the Suffolk County Police Department, officers discovered Juliann Bachmann injured and unresponsive inside her vehicle around 7:25 a.m. on May 16 at a gas station in Yaphank, New York.
Emergency responders transported her to a hospital in nearby Patchogue, where she was later pronounced dead.
Hours later, police arrested 40-year-old Michael McHenry, Bachmann’s boyfriend, in connection with her death. Authorities confirmed he has been charged with second-degree murder.
Prosecutors Reveal Disturbing Allegations
In a criminal complaint cited by reports, prosecutors allege that McHenry attacked Bachmann inside her vehicle.
According to the allegations, he stabbed her in the neck and chest before allegedly dragging her out of the car during the violent encounter.
Prosecutors also stated that witnesses called 911 while the incident was unfolding, but McHenry allegedly fled the area before officers arrived.
Police later tracked him down and arrested him approximately 12 hours after Bachmann was discovered.
Family Remembers Loving Mother
On Sunday, family and friends gathered during an emotional vigil to honor Bachmann’s life and remember her as a caring mother whose children meant everything to her.
Her sister, Kristen, spoke openly about the devastating loss and the pain the family is now facing.
“This guy is somebody that I think she thought she would find some sort of love with,” Kristen said.
“But he actually took four lives,” Kristen added, referring to Bachmann and her three children.
The emotional vigil highlighted not only the loss of Juliann Bachmann but also the lasting impact her death will have on her children and loved ones.

As mourners gathered in remembrance, Kristen continued to reflect on the close bond she shared with her sister.
