Panic in Rosemead Gunfire Erupts at Massive Street Takeover, 4 Teens and Young Adults Shot

ROSEMEAD, CA — A chaotic scene turned bloody over the weekend in Rosemead as an illegal street takeover ended in a terrifying volley of gunfire. What began as a “sideshow” with stunt driving and large crowds quickly descended into a life-threatening ordeal, leaving four people wounded and hundreds running for cover.

The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. near the intersection of North Del Mar Avenue and East Garvey Avenue. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) deputies from the Temple Station responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the heart of the packed intersection.

Terrifying Footage Captures the Moment Shots Rang Out

The violence was captured in chilling detail by a bystander who was live-streaming the event. The footage shows a dark-colored vehicle performing dangerous “donuts” in the smoke-filled intersection, with several passengers hanging out of the windows as the crowd cheered just inches away.

The atmosphere shifted from high-octane excitement to pure terror in seconds. In the video, three distinct rounds of gunfire are heard, followed almost immediately by another three shots. A second volley of gunfire appears to erupt from a different location within the crowd, suggesting a crossfire or multiple shooters.

As the bullets flew, the video shows onlookers frantically ducking behind cars and sprinting away from the smoke-filled “pit.”

The Victims: A Night of Fun Turns Tragic

While initial reports suggested five people were hit, investigators later clarified that four victims sustained gunshot wounds. The victims’ ages range from just 17 to 22 years old, highlighting the young demographic drawn to these illegal gatherings.

According to the Temple Station watch commander, all four victims were transported to local hospitals. Fortunately, officials confirmed their injuries are non-life-threatening, and they remain in stable condition.

Authorities Search for Suspects as Tensions Rise

By the time deputies arrived at the scene, the “sideshow” had already cleared. All vehicles involved in the takeover managed to flee the area before law enforcement could establish a perimeter. As of Monday, no arrests have been made, and police have not yet released descriptions of the shooters or the vehicles involved.

“The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation,” the LASD said in an official statement. “Detectives are actively working to identify those involved and determine the events that led up to the shooting.”

Political Fallout: Spencer Pratt Vows Crackdown

The incident has reignited a fierce debate over street takeovers in Los Angeles County. Spencer Pratt, the reality TV personality turned L.A. mayoral candidate, took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his outrage.

Pratt, 42, who entered the mayoral race with a platform focused on public safety, blasted both the drivers and the onlookers. He vowed to “quash” these illegal sideshows, suggesting that participants should face much harsher consequences than they currently do.

Community Safety Alert

Street takeovers have become a growing plague across Southern California, often leading to property damage, injuries, and—as seen in Rosemead—deadly violence. Local residents are urged to report any planned gatherings to authorities immediately.

What do you think, Rosemead? Are these street takeovers out of control? Should the city implement harsher penalties for onlookers, or is this a policing issue?
