Teen Arrested After Armed Robbery Of Children’s Lemonade Stand

SOUTH BOSTON, MA – Boston Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with a shocking armed robbery that targeted a local lemonade stand run by two young siblings.

The Armed Robbery

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near West Ninth Street. An 11-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother were operating their neighborhood lemonade stand when two suspects approached them.

According to the Boston Police Department (BPD), the suspects made several passes by the stand before asking if the children accepted Apple Pay. Before the siblings could fully respond, the suspects snatched the cash box. During the theft, one of the suspects flashed a black firearm tucked into his waistband. The suspects reportedly fled with approximately $50 in cash.

Surveillance Video Leads To Arrest

On Thursday afternoon, police released surveillance footage and photos showing the suspects wearing black face coverings, with one carrying a black backpack and a pink box. Thanks to leads generated by the footage, officers arrested the 14-year-old suspect on Friday.

The teenager faces multiple serious charges as a juvenile delinquent, including:

  • Two counts of armed robbery
  • Two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.

Second Suspect At Large

The second individual involved in the robbery has not yet been apprehended and remains at large. BPD detectives are actively reviewing the case and searching for the remaining suspect.
