Washington Father Arrested After Missing 4-Year-Old Found Buried Under Home

ABERDEEN, WA – An Aberdeen father is behind bars after authorities discovered the body of his missing 4-year-old son buried inside a tote bag beneath his residence.

The Arrest and Charges

Jacob Scott Bevins, 36, was booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail on Friday, June 5. He faces multiple severe charges, including:

  • Second-degree murder
  • First-degree manslaughter
  • Homicide by abuse
  • Unlawful disposal of remains
  • Assault of a child
  • Making false statements to a public servant

Bevins is currently being held on a $150,000 bail while prosecutors review final criminal charges.

Discovery After a Year Missing

The victim, Aiden Bevins, had allegedly been missing for nearly a year before his body was found on May 15. The discovery was made by the Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team under a property owned by the child’s grandmother, where both she and Bevins lived.

Detectives began investigating after receiving conflicting reports about Aiden’s whereabouts. Bevins initially told investigators and family members that the boy was living out of state with relatives in Idaho. The child’s biological mother, who was incarcerated at the time, also believed this version of events.

Conflicting Stories and Autopsy Findings

According to a probable cause affidavit, Bevins later claimed to investigators that Aiden had accidentally hit his head while running to the bathroom and passed away later.

However, prosecutors state that a preliminary postmortem examination conducted at the Thurston County Coroner’s Office contradicted his story. The autopsy reportedly revealed extensive injuries consistent with ongoing forceful trauma and abuse.

Authorities noted that prior to his death, Aiden had spent time in the foster care system. The investigation remains active as prosecutors hold Bevins under a requested 72-hour hold.
