'Miracle' Dashcam Video Shows Child Ejected Onto Police Cruiser Hood

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – An underage passenger is incredibly lucky to be alive after being ejected from a vehicle and landing directly onto the hood of a Gwinnett County police cruiser during a major intersection crash.

The Intersection Collision

The dramatic incident occurred at the intersection of Buford Drive NE and Russell Road NE in Lawrenceville. According to the official Gwinnett Police Department crash report, a 26-year-old driver attempting to turn left on a flashing yellow arrow pulled into oncoming traffic.

The turning vehicle was broadsided by a southbound car. The force of the impact pushed the first car into the grass and rammed the second vehicle directly into a police cruiser waiting in the turn lane.

A Miraculous Escape Captured on Camera

Dashcam footage from the police cruiser captured the moment a young boy was thrown from the second vehicle, landing squarely on the hood of the police car before rolling off.

Miraculously, the child walked away from the violent ejection with only a few minor scratches. Gwinnett Police described the footage as “nothing short of a miracle.”

Charges and Safety Citations Issued

While the driver of the turning car was found liable for causing the wreck, the driver of the second vehicle was also cited by officers.

Police discovered that the ejected boy, along with another child in the backseat, was completely unrestrained. The driver faces charges for failing to properly secure children in safety seats and seat belts.

A Stern Reminder From Law Enforcement

Gwinnett County authorities are using the shocking video as a critical safety reminder for the local community.

Officials emphasized that even if you follow every traffic law, you cannot control other drivers. Taking a few extra seconds to ensure every passenger is buckled up can mean the difference between life and death.
