West Chester Police Shoot And Kill Man After Domestic Call

WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP, OH – A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting late Thursday night at an apartment complex in West Chester Township, local officials confirmed.

Emergency Call Leading to Forced Entry

The incident began around 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, when West Chester Township police officers responded to an apartment complex on Zinnia Court. A neighbor had called emergency services after hearing a woman screaming for help inside a nearby apartment.

Upon arrival, officers knocked on the door and announced their presence. Due to immediate concerns for the safety of the occupants inside, police made the decision to enter the residence.

The Encounter and Fatal Shooting

While conducting a protective search of the apartment, officers encountered an unidentified man inside one of the bedrooms. A confrontation ensued, and police discharged their service weapons.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his identity, and it remains unclear exactly what prompted the gunfire or how many officers opened fire. No police officers were seriously injured during the encounter.

State Investigation Initiated

Following standard protocol for officer-involved shootings, township officials have requested the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) to conduct an independent investigation into the incident.
