Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — A shocking murder investigation in Philadelphia has led to multiple arrests after authorities say a woman used a rideshare vehicle to transport a suitcase containing the remains of her boyfriend before allegedly abandoning it on a city street.
Prosecutors allege the victim was killed inside a shared home before his body was concealed and transported with help from several family members.
Victim’s Remains Found Inside Suitcase
According to court records, 53-year-old Liza Ridley has been charged with murder in the death of 53-year-old Vincent Good.
Authorities say Good, who was a hand and leg amputee, lived with Ridley at a residence on Leonard Street in Philadelphia. Ridley reportedly served as both his caregiver and girlfriend.
Investigators believe Good was shot multiple times in the head inside the home before his body was placed into a suitcase.
On May 22, prosecutors allege Ridley arranged transportation through Lyft and brought the suitcase with her during the ride.
Lyft Driver Became Suspicious During Ride
According to prosecutors, the Lyft driver immediately noticed a strong odor coming from the luggage. Assistant District Attorney Cydney Pope described the interaction during a press conference.
“The bag that she took was placed in the back of that Lyft vehicle,” Pope said. “The Lyft driver immediately smelled a horrible smell, asked about the smell. The answer to that question was, ‘Oh, I’m sorry, it’s dirty wet clothes.'”
Authorities say the ride continued, and Ridley later exited the vehicle before allegedly abandoning the suitcase on the 600 block of East Hilton Street.
The following day, a resident reportedly discovered the luggage covered in flies and alerted authorities.
Police Discover Human Remains
When officers responded and opened the suitcase, they made a disturbing discovery. Investigators found what was described as the “human upper torso” of Vincent Good inside the luggage.
Authorities later recovered additional human remains from nearby trash bags.
The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office subsequently identified the victim and determined that his death was a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
As police released details of the case publicly, the Lyft driver reportedly contacted investigators after recognizing the story from local news coverage.
“She finished the Lyft drive, dropped off the individual, took a picture of her because she thought it was so odd, everything about it,” Pope said. “And the next day, after it was reported on the news, is when she contacted the police department and said, ‘I have information, I really think that this is the person who dropped that bag off.'”
Neighbors Reported Strong Odor
As detectives investigated the case, they interviewed neighbors living near the Leonard Street residence.
Several residents reported noticing a foul smell coming from the property.
“It smelled like a dead body. It was funky,” one neighbor told. “It was horrible. It took me two to three days to get the smell out of my house.”

Another resident added:
“It smelled horrible. I didn’t know if it was dead mice. I didn’t know if it was the basement because of the dogs.”
Investigators later executed a search warrant at the home and discovered evidence that the property had allegedly been cleaned before police arrived.
Multiple Defendants Charged
In addition to Ridley, authorities charged Bernadette Ridley, Liza Robinson, and Gnaeus Daniels with offenses including evidence tampering and obstruction of justice.
Prosecutors allege the defendants admitted to cleaning the residence and removing a mattress connected to the investigation.
According to Pope, “she ultimately admitted to shooting the decedent in the head.” Authorities are now investigating whether financial motives may have played a role in the alleged murder.
“We are still looking into financial motivations for this murder,” Pope said.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Ridley is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on June 16.
