Fox Lake, Illinois — An 11-year-old boy discovered wandering the streets bruised, bleeding, and wearing only his underwear has led to the arrest of his mother and her boyfriend after authorities say the child revealed he had endured years of alleged abuse.
Police in Fox Lake say the child was spotted by a local business employee on the morning of March 6, prompting a call to 911 that quickly launched a disturbing investigation into conditions inside the boy’s home.
Authorities say the case has resulted in multiple felony charges and the removal of several children from the household.
Child found injured and asking for help
According to the Fox Lake Police Department, officers responded around 9:30 a.m. to the area of Nippersink Boulevard and Grand Avenue after a concerned business employee reported a young boy who appeared badly injured.
The employee told police the boy had entered the business asking for help, prompting staff to immediately call emergency services.
Officers said the child had visible welts, bruises, scratches, and blood on his face when they arrived at the scene.
Police took the boy into protective custody and transported him to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital for a medical evaluation.
Investigation leads police to boy’s home
Detectives later traveled to the boy’s residence in the 30 block of East Grand Avenue in Fox Lake to continue the investigation.
At the home, officers spoke with the boy’s mother, 34-year-old Priscilla Marshall, who was later arrested following interviews with investigators.
During the investigation, authorities also discovered two younger children, ages 1 and 2, inside the residence.
Police said the toddlers appeared physically unharmed, but they were still taken into protective custody for safety.
Two additional siblings were reportedly at school at the time authorities arrived at the home.
All children placed in protective custody
Officials say all four children were removed from the home and taken to the Lake County Child Advocacy Center in Gurnee.
There, the children underwent medical evaluations and forensic interviews conducted by specialists trained to handle child abuse cases.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified of the situation.
Authorities later placed the children in the temporary care of an extended family member.

Boy alleges years of abuse
During the investigation, detectives say the 11-year-old told authorities he had been subjected to abuse for multiple years.
Investigators allege the boy was struck with household objects, had dish soap forced into his mouth and ears, and was not allowed to attend school.
Prosecutors later said the child told investigators the abuse had been happening for years before he finally ran away from the home and sought help.
Officials say the boy’s attempt to find help ultimately triggered the investigation that led to the arrests.
Mother’s boyfriend also taken into custody
After completing forensic interviews with the children, investigators returned to the residence and arrested Cody Marion, 35, the mother’s boyfriend.
Both Marshall and Marion now face multiple charges in connection with the case.
The charges include:
- Aggravated battery to a child
- Two counts of domestic battery
- Endangering the life or health of a child
Authorities say both suspects were transported to the Lake County Jail following their arrests.
Court hearings underway
According to local reports, both defendants have appeared in court for initial hearings related to the charges.
Marion appeared for a detention hearing on March 9, while Marshall appeared for her hearing on March 10.
Officials have not released further details about the ongoing case.
Investigation remains ongoing
Law enforcement officials say the investigation into the alleged abuse is still active as authorities continue reviewing evidence and witness statements.
Cases involving child abuse are often handled through specialized investigative teams and may involve multiple agencies.
