The Mineral Point FFA banquet is a tradition in the school district. Mineral Point FFA chapter has been around for 95 years. The banquet was extra special this year because it was held on National Agriculture Day and the first day of spring. For many, those days are not a big deal, but for FFA members, that means it is the start of the season and the start of what made them an FFA member. Everyone gathered at the FFA banquet held on March 19th, 2024, helps the Mineral Point FFA and the Agriculture industry.
The 2023/2024 officers are President Annie Robinson, Vice President Ellie Robinson, Secretary Regan Schuette, Treasurer Estella James, Reporter Payton Heins, Sentinel Luke Schubert, and Advisor Mike Robinson. Awards presented at this year’s FFA banquet were Discovery Degrees, Green Hand Degrees, Chapter Degrees, Blue and Gold awards, four-year member awards, state degrees, honorary member, FFA speaking contest awards, Special recognition, fruit sale awards, Star Discovery, Star Greenhand, Star Chapter, Star Blue and Gold, Dekalb award, FFA alumni scholarships, Don Hawkins scholarships, retiring officers, auction, and installation of new officers.
The Mineral Point FFA chapter banquet started with a lovely dinner of pork or beef, corn, potatoes, salads, and cheese. The food was delightful and of the best quality! Next, the officers introduced themselves giving non-members a good understanding of the Mineral Point chapter’s FFA officers. Then, awards were presented to members involved in FFA or who did well in competitions. Next was the retiring officers; this part is always fun because Mr.Robinson makes shirts that have something to do with each officer’s personality. Most of the time, the officer shirts are amusing. Next, at the auction, the new officers auction off deserts to use the money to pay for the Washington leadership conference. Lastly, the installation of the new officers is held which showcases who the new officers are and what the new officers do.
