MIAMI, FL – A tragic confrontation inside a Miami apartment on Saturday afternoon resulted in the deaths of two brothers who had reportedly arrived to protect their sister during a domestic dispute.
Fatal Confrontation in Miami
The incident occurred around noon on Saturday at an apartment complex where the victims’ sister resided. According to Miami police reports, Gianni Pierre (28) and Jaheim Pierre (23) had rushed to the residence due to concerns over their sister’s safety and a “history of previous domestic violence” involving her boyfriend.
Witness reports indicate a physical struggle broke out between the brothers and 31-year-old Antwan Carter. During the altercation, Carter allegedly left the apartment to retrieve a weapon from his vehicle.
Escalation and Arrest
Police state that Carter returned with a 9mm handgun and opened fire. Gianni Pierre was shot while seated on a couch and later died at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Jaheim Pierre was also fatally wounded during the shooting.
Upon arrival, officers apprehended Carter, who reportedly admitted to having the firearm. Carter later claimed he acted in response to the brothers’ actions, though investigators found several spent casings and projectiles throughout the apartment.
Legal Proceedings
Carter has been charged with first-degree murder, a capital felony in Florida. During a court appearance on Monday, he pleaded not guilty to the charges. A neighbor reported hearing at least five gunshots followed by the sound of someone fleeing the scene.
