FORT WORTH, TX – The southeast Fort Worth community is grieving the loss of Dominique Coleman, a dedicated local figure and car club member who was killed early Sunday morning while working as a security guard.
A Devoted Community Member
Dominique Coleman was a cornerstone of the DFW Ryderz Car Club for over 12 years. Friends and colleagues remember him not just for his passion for cars, but for his unwavering dedication to local youth and neighborhood events at Village Creek Park.
“He was so dedicated, he was solid. He was loyal. He was there,” said Marlo Jefferson, treasurer of the car club. Jefferson noted that while Coleman was known for being quiet, he was the first person to step up whenever the community needed help with events for local kids.
Tragedy on Miller Avenue
The incident occurred shortly before 5:45 a.m. on Sunday. Coleman was working security at the Club New Start Bar N Restaurant on Miller Avenue when the fatal encounter took place.
Fort Worth Police responded to the scene less than a mile from where Coleman often volunteered his time. While officers have confirmed the shooting, specific details regarding a suspect or the events leading up to the gunfire have not yet been released.
A Void in the Neighborhood
On Sunday, members of the DFW Ryderz gathered to honor their friend, sitting at a table that felt noticeably empty. The loss has sent shockwaves through the southeast Fort Worth area, where Coleman was a familiar and trusted face.
The Fort Worth Police Department is continuing its investigation into the homicide. Authorities are asking anyone who may have been in the area of Miller Avenue early Sunday morning to come forward with any information that could assist in the case.
