Hialeah Jewelry Store Employee Arrested For $46K Fraud

HIALEAH, FL – A former sales representative at a local jewelry store was arrested Monday after allegedly using dozens of forged checks to steal nearly $50,000 from her employer.

The Fraud Scheme

Geydis Cabrera, 39, faces multiple charges, including third-degree grand theft, uttering a forged instrument, and organized fraud.

According to police reports, the owner of Casa Joyero Miami, located on West 49th Street, noticed discrepancies in bank records and contacted authorities. Cabrera was employed at the store for just one month, from October through November 2025. While she was only authorized to receive a single commission check for $800, a financial review uncovered approximately 90 unauthorized checks issued over a three-month span.

Massive Financial Impact

Investigators confirmed that 57 of those checks, each written for $815, were forged under the owner’s name and directly deposited into Cabrera’s personal bank account.

The verified financial loss to the family-owned business totals $46,455. The store’s owner, Mileydis Diaz, expressed deep emotional betrayal, noting that they had opened their doors to give the employee a fair opportunity. The family suspects the total amount stolen could be even higher.

Legal Action

Cabrera was taken into custody on Monday and officially booked into the local jail. The business owners have expressed gratitude to the police for the swift arrest and are seeking full justice through the court system.
