Chaos In Times Square Gunfire Sparks Panic, One Slashed

MANHATTAN, NY – A chaotic brawl in the heart of Times Square on Thursday afternoon led to gunfire, a stabbing, and crowds of terrified tourists sprinting for safety. Police currently have one teenager in custody.

Gunfire at Broadway and 44th Street

The violence erupted around 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of 44th Street and Broadway. Surveillance footage captured a young male pulling out a firearm and discharging multiple rounds into the crowded area.

While no one was directly struck by the bullets, the sound of gunfire triggered widespread panic. Witnesses reported hundreds of pedestrians scattering and ducking into nearby souvenir shops for cover.

The Chase and a Second Shooting

Following the shots, the gunman fled south on foot, colliding with a police officer before sprinting east on 42nd Street with authorities in close pursuit.

Shortly after officers detained a suspect, police responded to a reported secondary shooting nearby at 45th Street and Eighth Avenue. Store owners in the area reported helping several pedestrians who were knocked to the ground during the ensuing stampede.

Stabbing Victim Hospitalized

During the initial melee, a 26-year-old man sustained a serious stab wound to his neck. Emergency responders located the victim and rushed him to Morningside Hospital. Officials confirm he is expected to survive his injuries.

Ongoing Investigation

The NYPD has heavily secured the area to collect ballistic evidence and determine where the stray bullets landed.

While one teenager remains in custody, investigators have not yet confirmed if he is the primary shooter. Authorities are actively searching for additional suspects and working to determine the motive behind the initial fight.
