LOS ANGELES, CA – A Southern California woman facing serious charges for the attempted kidnapping of an 8-year-old girl remains missing nearly two months after her family reported her disappearance.
The Disappearance
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, 41-year-old Courtney Perrone was last seen around 10:30 p.m. on May 17 in the 3900 block of South Budlong Avenue in South L.A.

Prior Santa Monica Kidnapping Charges
Perrone has a violent criminal history, highlighted by an August 2024 arrest in Santa Monica. Investigators stated that she approached a neighbor who was helping an 8-year-old girl and claimed she was with the “Russian police” to take the child.
A “tug-of-war” ensued over the young girl. After the neighbor successfully placed the child safely inside a vehicle, Perrone allegedly tried to pry the door open before pulling a switchblade knife and fleeing. She was later charged with:

- False imprisonment by violence
- Assault with a deadly weapon
Perrone also holds an extensive arrest record outside of California, including outstanding warrants in New Hampshire for stalking and forgery, and a probation status from Nevada.
