Garden Grove Police Officer Arrested Following Juvenile Investigation

GARDEN GROVE, CA – An Orange County police officer was arrested and relieved of duty over the weekend following allegations of inappropriate interactions with a minor, authorities announced Thursday.

The Arrest and Allegations

Garden Grove Police Officer Roberto Machuca was taken into custody on Saturday, June 27. The arrest came just one day after investigators were notified of “possible inappropriate interaction(s)” between Machuca and a female youth participant.

The alleged victim is a member of the department’s Explorer program, a community initiative designed to teach young men and women about careers in public service and law enforcement techniques. Due to her status as a juvenile, authorities are withholding the victim’s identity.

Department Response

Following his arrest, Machuca was booked at the Orange County Jail. Department officials confirmed he has been relieved of duty and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.

The Garden Grove Police Department released a statement emphasizing their commitment to safety, stating, “The safety and security of our youth volunteers remains a top priority.”

Ongoing Investigation

Specific details regarding the exact charges against Machuca have not yet been disclosed by officials. It also remains unclear whether Machuca served in an official leadership capacity within the Explorer program.

The investigation is active and being conducted in close coordination with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities stated that the completed case file will be forwarded to the District Attorney for formal prosecution review once the probe concludes.
