Grays Harbor County, Washington — A Washington man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say the body of his 4-year-old son was discovered buried beneath a residence nearly a year after the child was last seen.
The heartbreaking case has shocked the local community and prompted a major criminal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
Missing Child Found Buried Beneath Property
Authorities identified the child as Aiden Bevins, whose remains were discovered on May 15 during an investigation led by the Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team.
According to investigators, Aiden’s body was found inside a tote bag buried beneath a property that police allege belonged to the suspect’s grandmother.
Officials say the child had allegedly been missing for approximately one year before the discovery was made.
Relatives reportedly told investigators that both Jacob Scott Bevins and the child’s grandmother lived at the residence where the remains were located.
Father Arrested on Multiple Charges
Authorities arrested 36-year-old Jacob Scott Bevins and booked him into the Grays Harbor County Jail.
According to jail records, Bevins faces several serious charges, including:
- Second-degree murder
- First-degree manslaughter
- Homicide by abuse
- Unlawful disposal of human remains
- Assault of a child
- Making false or misleading statements to a public servant
Court records show he is currently being held on $150,000 bail.
Prosecutors have also sought additional time to review the evidence while criminal proceedings move forward.
Conflicting Stories Triggered Investigation
According to reports, investigators became suspicious after receiving conflicting information regarding Aiden’s whereabouts.
Authorities allege that Bevins initially claimed the child was living with relatives outside Washington. Police later determined that information was false.
Detectives continued investigating after inconsistencies emerged surrounding the child’s disappearance and location.
The case eventually led authorities to the property where the remains were recovered.
Father’s Explanation Contradicted by Preliminary Findings
According to court documents cited by local media, Bevins allegedly told investigators that Aiden suffered a fatal injury after accidentally hitting his head while running to the bathroom.
Authorities say he claimed the child later died following the accident.
However, prosecutors contend that preliminary findings from a postmortem examination paint a different picture.
Investigators allege the examination revealed extensive injuries consistent with ongoing abuse rather than a single accidental incident.
The findings are expected to play a significant role as the case moves through the court system.
Family Believed Child Was Living Elsewhere
Authorities said Aiden’s biological mother told investigators she had not seen her son for approximately a year while she was incarcerated.

According to reports, she believed Aiden was staying with relatives in Idaho and was unaware of what had allegedly happened.
Investigators are continuing to piece together the timeline leading up to the child’s disappearance and death.
Reports also indicate that Aiden had previously spent time in foster care before returning to family custody.
Investigation Continues
The case remains under active investigation as prosecutors review evidence and prepare for future court proceedings.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the exact cause and manner of death pending further examination and legal proceedings.
The allegations have drawn widespread attention due to the age of the victim and the disturbing circumstances surrounding the discovery of his remains.
