Bucyrus Video Sparks Heated Debate Over Alleged Mountain Lion

BUCYRUS, OH – A viral Facebook video showing a mysterious tan animal crossing a local soybean field has ignited a massive online debate among Bucyrus residents, pitting local observations against state wildlife experts.

The Soybean Field Sight

Bucyrus resident Lori Adams captured the footage one evening after noticing what she initially mistook for a golden retriever. However, as the animal moved, its muscular build, tan coat, black-tipped tail, and distinct feline gait convinced her otherwise.

“I’m a cat person… I’ve studied cats my whole life, and that’s not the movement of a dog,” Adams stated, firmly believing she had filmed a mountain lion.

State Officials Defend “House Cat” Theory

The Ohio Division of Wildlife quickly downplayed the mountain lion theory after analyzing the scene. State wildlife officers measured tracks left in the field, which registered between 1.4 and 1.6 inches.

According to the agency:

  • Official Stance: Based on the track size and the animal’s height relative to the soybean plants, officials concluded it was simply a large domestic house cat.
  • Historical Context: Wildlife officials reiterated that mountain lions were extirpated from Ohio by 1850 and no longer inhabit the state.

A Dramatic Update

Despite official skepticism, Adams later updated the community with a stunning claim. According to her latest post, authorities contacted her to confirm that the animal was struck and killed on Route 30.

Adams claims officials recovered the remains and confirmed the animal was, in fact, a mountain lion. State agencies have yet to issue a public statement confirming the recovery on Route 30.
