Washington, D.C. — Thousands of patio swings sold through Costco stores nationwide are being recalled after multiple reports that the seats can suddenly detach while in use, creating what federal officials describe as a potentially deadly fall hazard.
The recall impacts approximately 18,500 Agio Menlo Woven Patio Swings, according to a safety notice issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on May 14.
Patio Swings Linked to Multiple Injuries
Federal safety officials said the swings pose a serious danger because the seat may unexpectedly separate from the frame while someone is sitting on it.
“The firm has received eight reports of the swing seat detaching from the swing frame, resulting in eight reports of injury, including impact injuries to the head and arms,” CPSC said.
The sudden detachment can cause users to fall without warning, increasing the risk of serious injury or even death.
The recall notice warns consumers that continued use of the product could be extremely dangerous, especially for children, older adults or anyone who could suffer severe injuries during a fall.
Details About the Recalled Product
The recalled product is identified as the Agio Menlo Woven Patio Swing with model number 1934256.
The swings feature:
- A black metal frame
- Brown woven wicker seating
- A fabric canopy
The patio furniture pieces were sold at Costco warehouses nationwide as well as online through Costco.com between February and March 2026.
According to officials, the swings retailed for approximately $549 to $649, making them a popular outdoor furniture purchase during the spring season.
Consumers Urged to Stop Using Swings Immediately
Safety officials are strongly urging owners to stop using the recalled swings right away.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled patio swings and contact World Bright International Limited to receive a free repair in the form of replacement hooks and instructions for replacing the hooks,” CPSC said.
The company is offering free replacement hooks and repair instructions designed to fix the defect and prevent future seat detachments.
Consumers who own the recalled product are encouraged to carefully check the model number and follow official recall instructions as soon as possible.
Another Costco Product Recall Raises Concerns
The patio swing recall comes during a recent wave of product safety warnings involving items sold through Costco.
Just days earlier, federal officials announced another recall involving more than 113,000 electric kettles sold at Costco and HomeGoods.
That recall was issued after reports that the kettle handles could detach unexpectedly, causing hot water to spill and leading to at least one reported second-degree burn injury.

The back-to-back recalls have raised concerns among some shoppers about product safety and quality control involving household items and outdoor products sold by major retailers.
Safety Experts Stress Importance of Recall Notices
Consumer safety experts frequently warn shoppers not to ignore recall notices, especially when products involve risks of falls, burns or other serious injuries.
Even products that appear stable or undamaged can still contain hidden defects that become dangerous during normal use.
Officials say consumers should always stop using recalled items immediately and follow repair or return instructions provided by manufacturers and federal agencies.
